It also gives a brief biography of the subject and outlines the influence she had over subsequent generations of feminist thinkers. Drawing from the portrait painted by Christine’s major biographers, as well as from arguments made by second-wave feminist historians on both sides of the question, it determines that although she cannot be labeled a feminist using the contemporary definition, she exhibits certain modes of feminist thought, notably her belief in education for women.
