The Evolving Landscape of Lung Cancer Awareness: A Comparative Analysis of Vaping and Traditional Smoking Perceptions among Young Adults
Public Deposited- Abstract
- This study investigated the attitudes and knowledge of young adults regarding vaping and traditional smoking, with a particular focus on misconceptions and comparisons between the two behaviors. As vaping continues to grow in popularity, concerns about its health implications, particularly the risk of lung cancer, have emerged. The purpose of this research was to assess young adults' awareness of the potential risks associated with vaping and smoking and to explore whether they perceive vaping as a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes. A quantitative, anonymous survey was conducted via Google Forms with 321 participants aged 18 to 30. The findings revealed that while many participants viewed vaping as less harmful than smoking, there was notable uncertainty about its long-term risks. These results contribute to a deeper understanding of how young individuals view these behaviors and may inform future educational initiatives addressing vaping and smoking-related health risks.
